As part of my JPN 101 class, I am working on improving my speaking ability. I have come up with some goals for the course, and here they are:
- Improve my pitch accenting - paying closer attention to the pitches of individual words and applying them, particularly when speaking more quickly
- Remove stress placed on the beginning of sentences when speaking
- Improve my ability to speak quickly and reply more quickly
To reach these goals, I plan to:
- Read the textbook whenever I can, particularly out loud
- Shadow for 10 minutes minimum a day - this will be best for my second and first goals
- Go to Japanese language table every week - this will be very important for my third goal
At various stages, I would like to reevaluate my progress and determine whether or not my goals are working. At these times, I plan to go to しばたせんせいの office hours when I am able to.
I'm off to start shadowing!

ダグラスさん、おはよう!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome to see someone so excited about learning Japanese. It's really a very interesting language, as you've probably already found during your time in Japan. It looks like you've got a good plan for achieving your speaking goals, so がんばって!
